Purplenova allows you to designate files on your PC and makes these designated files directly web-accessible. It also allows you to display these files on your forum / social network / blog pages.

There is no need to upload files to any third party server. However, you have the choice to do so and you can store your files on our servers if your PC cannot be on-line 24x7.

What is a Funcast Billboard?

A Funcast Billboard is a widget that allows you to display your Purplenova content on forums, blogs and social networking sites. (See example)

What is a Funfeed?

A Funfeed is a RSS feed to your Purplenova content. Once your friends have subscribed to this feed, they can directly view your content from their email or other RSS readers.

Why Purplenova?

Purplenova allows you to directly share desktop content over the web. VPNs (virtual private networks) and Web-conferencing tools are complex, and don’t work with forums and social networks.

Purplenova provides a solution for secure, one-to-many sharing of desktop content. You remain in control of your content, you retain its ownership, and you can turn the sharing ON / OFF easily and any number of times.

What are some of the Purplenova applications?

You can use Purplenova FunCaster to display your pictures, videos, and other fun stuff to your friends and community. You can also advertise your goods and services, put up classifieds, display video-plus-text resumes, etc.

Is Purplenova secure?

Purplenova Servers act as a Firewall between your PC and the internet and therefore protect your PC from attacks on the Internet. Readers do not get access to your PC. They can only read the files that you specifically designate.

Will Purplenova be a drain on my resources (bandwidth and computer processing power)?

Purplenova is a lightweight application and designed to serve content even while you are working on your PC. We intelligently cache your most popular content in order to maximize reader experience and minimize usage of your bandwidth and computing power.

Does Purplenova work behind NAT and firewalls?

Yes, Purplenova works from behind NAT / Routers / Proxies etc.

Do I need a broadband connection?

Purplenova works with any internet connection. A broadband connection with higher speed simply means a better user experience for your readers.

Do I need to keep my PC ON to publish files?

Purplenova makes the most recent content available from your PC to your readers which would require your PC to be ON. In case you cannot leave your PC ON, Purplenova provides each user the ability to store a fixed amount of content on our servers. Content is accessible with the same URLs whether it is delivered from our servers or directly from your PC.

Is there limit on the number of files and file sizes?

There is no limit on the number of files you can publish with Purplenova. The size limit per file is 1GB.

Is there a constraint on the type of content I publish?

While you can publish files of any format and type, you should only publish content that does not violate copyrights.

What operating systems are supported? What are the system requirements?

Purplenova is presently available only on the MS Windows platform (Win 2K onwards). You do not need any other package to be installed on your PC. The installable is only around 3 MB.

How do I get Purplenova?

Funcaster version can be obtained here. Web Server maybe obtained here. You can upgrade a Funcaster to a Web Server at any time from within the software.

What is the price and the refund policy?

Purplenova FunCaster is free.

For the Purplenova Web Server, we will refund the amount (depending on your plan) minus transaction costs (about $1.5) and domain registration costs (if applicable) within a period of 15 days.

How can I cancel my subscription?

Simply Un-install Purplenova from your PC.

What support is available?

We presently provide email support.

What if I forget my login name or password?

You can request your lost password from our website, and it will be mailed it to your email address.

What is private hosting?

You can choose to designate some of your files for private hosting and access. Such privately hosted files will not be made accessible to search engines or displayed on your Billboards or via Funfeeds. You will need to specifically communicate the URL of a privately shared file for the reader to be able to access it. Such files are delivered securely using the SSL protocol.

Is Purplenova performance comparable to performance from hosting providers?

Purplenova performance has been optimized to be as close to the performance of data hosted with hosting providers. The actual performance in practice depends on the speed of your internet connection.

What is Auto-publishing?

You can designate a directory on your computer as an auto-publish directory, and any files you move to that directory automatically become web-accessible.
